Larry JanuaryEA

Accounting is in Larry January’s genes.

When Larry was a toddler, his father left the IRS to open his own CPA practice in 1950. The son grew up knowing his father had built one of the earliest buildings in the treasured Broad Ripple neighborhood (and it’s still standing, now in the heart of Broad Ripple’s expansion.)

Larry went to work for his father in the early 1970s. It’s where he met Andrew (Andy) Engel, who would become a lifelong friend, partner and now colleague at Timpe CPAs. The pair bought the practice from Larry’s father in 1980 and launched January & Engel Accounting and Tax Service, offering bookkeeping and tax preparation services.

Small businesses flourished in the ’70s and ’80s, and January & Engel served family-owned grocery stores, restaurants, small drugstores and the like.

By 2015, Larry and Andy decided to create a succession plan so they could recommend top-notch CPAs to their clients in the future. They chose to merge their practice with Timpe CPAs.

Today, Larry still serves clients as an Enrolled Agent, a preparer classification designated by the IRS to CPAs that can pass a rigorous three-day exam. As time permits, he is ensuring he’s ready for retirement.

He can do the same for you.
